# The DGMV governance system

## Community governance

Community governance is the driving force of our ecosystem, empowering the community (that's you) by giving you control over distribution of the vast majority of the tokens circulating within the ecosystem.

{% hint style="info" %}
Our governance model is currently being developed, so the model outlined here is subject to change.
{% endhint %}

### Community governance functions

* **Creating and submitting proposals**\
 Community-driven initiatives and proposals, including funding requests, ecosystem improvements, and non-executable community guidance.
* **Creating bounties**\
 Setting up tasks with allocated rewards.
* **Voting on proposals**\
 Collectively deciding whether proposals are approved or rejected.
* **Accessing IP vault tokens**\
 Deciding how tokens held within the IP vault will be used when they become available after the five-year lock-up. To do this, community members vote on whether to:
 * Extend the lock-up period
 * Refill various wallets within the ecosystem
 * Fund internal and external initiatives

### Accessing governance

To access the governance mechanics, token holders must lock a minimum amount of 1,000 $DGMV tokens in the governance contract.

We will use the DGMV sovereign identity (SID) to confirm xDGMV holders’ identities.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://digicorplabs.gitbook.io/docs/dgmv-community/the-dgmv-governance-system.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
